Darkness In The Light Destiny 2: Malfeasance Hand

Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online-only multiplayer first-person shooter game. You select a class and begin to explore various parts of the world in a typical MMO fashion. The producers – Bungie – have created various expansions over the years that provide new weapons and quests for you to complete.

Their latest, Darkness in the Light, follows a series of quests where you obtain Malfeasance – a kinetic damaging exotic hand cannon that causes targets to explode. Below is a simple guide of Destiny 2 Malfeasance quest line.

What Is Malfeasance Quest Guide?

The big appeal for these quests is Malfeasance. As mentioned before, it’s an exotic hand cannon that deals kinetic damage and can explode targets.
The explosion is due to the hand cannon firing tainted slugs that bury into the enemies themselves. Once you’ve stacked enough of them, they explode.
It’s a messy end, but if you’re looking at raw stats, Malfeasance can deliver too. It’s incredibly stable and is able to fire 180 rounds every minute. The magazine isn’t the largest, but you do have to have some downside to a hand cannon that blows up people.

Quest Steps – How to get Malfeasance Destiny 2?

The Malfeasance quest line is a very long mission that requires a lot of effort. That said, there are only 7 stages to this mission. By following this Malfeasance quest guidebelow, you should be able to get your hands on this powerful weapon in due time.

Seething Heart

The first thing you have to do is obtain a seething heart. This is only possible by assassinating the Ascendant Primeval Servitor Boss you find in Gambit. You won’t have to worry about this not dropping as much since this is a common drop and appears as soon as they’re killed.

The challenge, though, is the fact their appearance is unpredictable. You’ll have to play several matches and hope that the Servitor Boss shows up and you win the match.

Without the seething heart, you can’t start the Darkness in the light Destiny 2 quest line. Once you have it, bring it to the Drifter.

City of Secrets

Bringing it to the Drifter will begin the Malfeasance quest line officially since the Drifter will then assign you a mission to kill 25 Taken bosses that are found at the Dreaming City.

There are three main options to consider when handling this quest:

  • Go to the Blind Well in the Dreaming City
  • Grind out Taken Blight public events
  • Or head to the Starlight Lost Sector in the Rheasilvia area of the Dreaming City

The Blind Well is the fastest out there as multiple boss-level Taken will spawn. That said, you still need to kill them for it to count.

If you’re not very strong, you can still have a kill confirmed if you’ve assisted in the kill (i.e., damaged the target slightly). Be sure to bring strong friends with you or just wait until a group of people appears at the well.

The Corrupted and Depleted Weapon Core

After the second stage of Malfeasance Destiny 2 quest line is completed, your reward is a special version of The Corrupted Strike. Wandering around the Dreaming City for longer, and you’ll find a group to strike.

You’ll need a strong team to complete the strike, but you will be rewarded with a Depleted Weapon Core item after that. You’ll need to bring that to the Drifter to progress.

Business As Usual

Getting to the midpoint of Destiny 2 how to get Malfeasance, you’ll see the difficulty ramping up. In this mission, you’ll need to win 10 Gambit matches and bank a total of 400 Motes.

This is going to be a grind as losing any amount of Motes will mean losing two times the progress. For example, if you’re 35/400 Motes and you die carrying 15, your progress will drop to 5/400. To save you time, here are some strategies to make this process smother:

  • Bank your Motes as soon as enemy waves end.
  • Don’t feel bad if you need to run. Losing is worse if you’re carrying more Motes.

Lights Out

The second to last quest requires you to have some PvP skills since you need to kill 25 Guardians as an invader.

Sounds simple, though the challenge is killing the four Guardians during a single invasion. There are some strategies to make this easier, too, though. Such as:

  • Equipping a heavy weapon and letting loose, killing enemies quickly
  • Using the Taken enemies as a distraction so you can focus on the Guardians.
  • Having a teammate complete this mission three times.

Destiny 2 – How To Get Malfeasance

Once Lights Out is done, your reward is a Dark Weapon Core item. Offer this to the Drifter, and you’ll be given the Malfeasance. At last, all those efforts bore fruit, and you’ll be able to explode targets after hitting them with five shots.

It’s a well-earned reward, so don’t be afraid to play around with the hand cannon for completing this quest line.
